Reading is a key skill which we aim to create a love for during your child’s time at Thomas A’Becket Infant School. All our topics are centred around stimulating, high quality texts and allow opportunities for ‘Book Talk’ and to extend children’s thinking.

 

Your child will bring home a reading book within their colour ‘book band’. They are encouraged to change their book each morning when they come into their classroom. Your child will also have a reading diary, where you can record the title of the book and any relevant comments.

 

We ask that your child reads for 10 minutes each day as their ‘Home Learning.’ Children’s reading is celebrated in school through our reading challenges where they can win prizes for the amount of reading they do at home.
