Recognition at TAB Infant

At Thomas A Becket Infant School, we believe in recognising children for their effort, attitude and achievements. We encourage every child to REACH for the Stars through our shared school values, which are supported by our Learning Friends:

Reggie Respect helps us to show kindness, consideration and respect to others.

Ethel Effort encourages us to always try our best and persevere when learning is challenging.

Agnes Attitude reminds us to approach learning with a positive, can-do mindset.

Carlos Collaboration teaches us the importance of working together and supporting one another.

Hermione Honesty helps children to be truthful, take responsibility for their actions and make the right choices.

Children work together to earn stars by demonstrating our school values. Each time a child is recognised for showing a value, they receive a star to take home and celebrate with their family. The star is also added to the class total, helping the whole class work towards a shared reward.

Each class has a 100 Star Chart, which provides a visual reminder of their success. Stars are labelled to show which value has been demonstrated. When a class reaches 100 stars, they earn a special reward chosen by the class. Rewards may include a pyjama day, a dress-up day, extra playtime, or the opportunity to enjoy a film with a snack. This encourages teamwork and helps children understand the importance of living out our school values every day.

Our REACH for the Stars display is visible throughout the school, providing a consistent reminder of our values and celebrating the positive choices children make.

Every half term, we hold a Celebration Assembly, where children can share and celebrate their learning, achievements and successes.

We also recognise exceptional examples of our values through Above and Beyond Postcards. These are awarded to children who consistently demonstrate outstanding effort, attitude or behaviour that goes beyond expectations.

The postcards are sent home to celebrate these achievements with families and recognise the positive impact children have on our school community.
