A very warm welcome to Thomas A'Becket Infant School.

We are a large and happy school with a friendly, nurturing and busy environment.

Through our rich and creative curriculum we aim to inspire our children and provide them with a wide range of exciting learning experiences.

Our aim is to give them the best start in life and to encourage them to become enthusiastic and independent lifelong learners.

We are very proud of our Forest School and conservation area. Our children regularly spend time learning in the environment as it offers opportunities to take risks, make choices and initiate learning for themselves, as well as developing their understanding, appreciation and care for the natural environment.

By building close partnerships with parents, Governors and the local community, we are constantly striving to improve our school.

Please come and visit Thomas A'Becket Infant School. We would be delighted to show you around!

Mrs Amanda Dingwall

On behalf of the Governing Body I would like to welcome you to Thomas A'Becket Infant School. Please take the time to explore our web site, which highlights the rich and varied experience enjoyed by all our pupils.

Our aim, set out in our Governors Mission Statement, is “To ensure a safe, nurturing environment for pupils, staff and volunteers that promotes lifelong learning delivered to the highest standards and to ensure that all decisions and activities of the Governing Body are based, in the first instance, on the needs of the children in our care.”We are a Governing Body of 16 Governors with a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience, which we use to fulfil our responsibilities.

We continually strive to improve our own performance and our recent OFSTED Inspection Report (July 2015) noted "Governors provide a good level of support and challenge to the school." As Governors we pride ourselves on our involvement in the school. Governors regularly visit not only to fulfill our statutory responsibilities and to monitor the effectiveness of provision but also to help in classrooms and on school trips. This involvement gives us a better understanding of the school and helps us to make the right decisions in supporting the school to be the best it can.

I hope the website gives you a glimpse of life at Thomas A'Becket Infant School and the dedicated team who work there. I would like to join with Mrs Dingwall in welcoming you to our school.

Martin Winstone

Chair of Governors
